Bishop DeDe Duncan-Probe was with us on Sunday February 9th and gave a powerful sermon. In it she reminded us that Jesus was political for his day—a day when there were only two kinds of people: the rich and powerful religious leaders, and the rest of the population. Jesus proclaimed that God wanted all of God’s children treated with mercy and compassion. This made the religious leaders uncomfortable and they eventually had him executed for it.
The bishop said that Jesus calls all of us, all of us to repentance and that can be defined as changing our minds, or at least hearing each other out. This isn’t the case today as we are so polarized. So it remains our role as followers of Christ to proclaim the Good News that Jesus wants us to care for others and that includes the marginalized.
Trinity Church will be host to many of the events, talks and ceremonies over this fun-filled weekend. Our gift shop, Trinity Trinkets and Treasures, will be open during most of the events.
We will have our annual It’s a Wonderful Breakfast Saturday Dec 14 from 7:30am-11:00am. Stop in for a fantastic meal to start your day.
And as usual, join us for Service Sunday morning at 9:30am. Looking forward to seeing you over the weekend!!
On Wednesday Nov 6 from 11am- 1pm we will open our doors for anyone looking for a sacred, quiet and safe space to pray. No service or organized prayers, just a time for your own reflection, prayers and thoughts. All are welcome.
