Neighbor’s Dinner Out

This ministry started in the late 1980’s and has flourished ever since. The need for feeding people in the community was recognized by Trinity parishioners and continues to this day. It not only provides a small bit of sustenance, but the opportunity for fellowship.

This free community meal is served 4:00-5:30pm on the last Sunday of the month, January through October. The meals are home-cooked in our county health department-approved kitchen, and are full course, with meat, vegetable, and dessert. Favorites have developed through the year – chicken and biscuits is one of the most requested.

Although guided by many through the years, the Neighbors’ Dinner Out are overseen by Irene Ferrante, who cooks up a storm and serves the dinners with the help of several volunteers.  The good folks of St Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Seneca Falls United Methodist Church, Seneca Falls Presbyterian Church youth group and Seneca Falls and Waterloo Rotary chapters take turns throughout the year staging the dinners as well.

During the Pandemic, the meal went completely to take-out. Now it is back to dine-in primarily.  Traditionally, we have served 50-65 meals in our dining room.   Publicity is minimal; usually word-or-mouth among those most needy.
